USE OF FORCE / K9 DEPLOYMENT

LOCATION: Garfield / S Pacific Hwy

SUSPECT: Atwood, Wade Robert 01-24-87

Officer Whiteman Jr conducted a traffic stop at Garfield and S Pacific Hwy and Officer Moffit responded as a Cover Officer.
The passenger in the vehicle (Wade Robert Atwood) had an Extraditable Felony Parole Warrant out of the State of California.
When Officers tried to detain him in handcuffs, he took off running S/B.
Officer Whiteman Jr and Moffit began chasing him but he developed a good lead.
Officer Moffit then activated his remote "door pop" and commanded K-9 "Rudi" to assist.
"Rudi" ran past both pursuing Officers and caught up with the suspect in the parking lot of the Pontiac Dealership on S Pacific Hwy.
The suspect was not complying with Officers Commands and was subsequently bit by "Rudi".
He was then taken into custody without further incident.
He was transported to RVMC where he was medically cleared to be lodged at the Jackson County Jail.
